WOW!! It’s been awhile

I can’t believe I haven’t posted since Mother’s Day. SORRY! That just shows how time gets away from us all.

This past week and weekend have been long but fun, I can start by telling you about the last week of school, The kids don’t do much as they shouldn’t, they have a hard last few months of school with testing and they need a little break before the 9 week break. But they still have to get up, get dressed, get to school on time be in class by 9 am ( next fall we have to have them in class earlier  8:58! I don’t know how I’ll do it!) And stay focused until 10:45 when they get recess, then re-focus until ( for the 2nd graders) 12:30 when they get the much needed break for lunch. Then of course trying to get them settled down after lunch to get some work done ( work….UMM, painting, crafts, Father’s Day cards ect. you get the idea, Work) Mind you I’m only talking about the last week of school.  And finally the bell rings to go home 3:15 where I stand outside the gates with my good friend Cindy and chit chat about how we are going to keep the kids busy, for 9 weeks, because if your kids are anything like Perri they want to always know “What are we doing today?” ” where are we going today?”. And the first thing that Perri and Skyler always ask “Can we have a play date?” everyday, for the last 9 months, “Can we have a playdate?” as if they wont see eachother the next day at school to start the cycle over again, Didn’t they just play all day together at school? Didn’t they just eat lunch and snack and play tether ball and chinese handball? ( don’t ask, I dont know what chinese handball is). But day after day the same question…..Cindy will come to me and say the girls hit me up already for a playdate, or I can say the girls were asking at lunch to have a playdate, so we have to get our story straight before the bell rings, what do we want to do, who’s house will they be going to, do you want them? do I want them? all this has to be decided before they come running out of the gates. The good thing is, the bell rings at 3:15, their teacher doesn’t bring them out until about 3:25 almost every day. To me that is a sign of a good teacher, never the first one out, she isn’t watching the clock waiting for the bell to ring, she teaches right up to the bell then gets them ready to go, but on the other side of the gate in the 90 degree heat  or 50 degree wind and rain, we always wish they were out first.

Anyway, I haven’t really talked about the week, FIELD DAY was last Tuesday, that is where the aforementioned ( is that one word or two? ) break comes in yet again. They have organized games that no one wins and they play most of the day out side then after the lunch BREAK they go inside and play some more, it’s just a fun filled day that all the grades have at the end of the year, they all wear matching shrits that they made in class and have to work as a team in most of the games, moms and dads get to help out, my job was to splash the kids with water, That was fun!

I joke about the kids getting all thses breaks, but they really do deserve it, I know watching Perri with all her homework during the year, some weeks more than others but I always have to remember she is only in second grade and she has lots of time to learn and she has received all 5’s on her report cards all year long ( 5’s would be A’s in letter grades) so she deserves the breaks that she has earned. We are very proud of her and now ON TO THIRD GRADE!

I’ll have to write about the rest of the week in another post, that was just one subject so this could go on for a while. I still need to write about David’s Birthday, Father’s Day and our reunion that’s coming up that has been in the planning stages for almost a year. Too much for one post.

To be continued……
