Saturday we had two games, which we won!! Super fun all the girls were having a great time and the parents too, it’s fun to win on your own turf!

Sunday we knew we could play as many as three games, the first game was at 8:00 am, and like I said it was a good thing because it turned out to be a super HOT day. We beat Rialto, I have no Idea what the score ended up being, but we won. Perri had a great catch toward the end of the game to get us out of a long inning. I was thrilled for her, it was a great catch and Iloved to see her getting pats on the back from the coaches and her teammates.

 We had a break before our next game so we came home to rest in the AC. The field was only about two blocks from our house so that was real nice, no traveling this weekend.

The second game was the semi-finals  all we had to do was beat the “Temecula Ternminators” to get to the Championship game, boy the French Valley terminators have come a long was from our first three Tournaments of losing every game.

So our team names are the same, that sucks because we don’t want to cheer for the Terminators because that would help the other team. So before the game all the fans decided we would cheer for either French Valley, FV or the names of the girls while they were up. We have quite the cheering section so this decision was needed before the game so everyone was on the same page. You have to be organized….

The game starts and here we go doing our cheers, and we were loud, as we always are. The dug out was loud and the stands were loud. So about 15 min into the game while one of our girls was up one of the grandma’s from the other team comes over to us and says, we don’t like the way your cheering, it’s hurting my grand daughters feelings. WHAT!!?? are you kidding me!! Yes ,this really happened! We were cheering for our girls by thier nick names. The player that was up was LoLa, so we were say LoLa, LoLa, LoLa over and over to get her pumped to hit the ball, apparently the pitcher on the other teams name or last name was Su La, she thought we were taunting her. I should have worn my shirt ” There’s no crying in softball”!  So after it was explained to the grandma that we were not taunting her granddaughter she left, I don’t think she was happy but she walked away. Anyway…we were holding our own, the game was back and forth, they would go up in runs then we would go up. One of the last innings we fell apart a little, our pitchisng had been awesome at keeping the other team off the bases but in the heat it’s just too hard for one little girl so we were moving our girls around and in doing that we gave up a few runs but that was alright because in this tournament with us being the HOME team we got our last ups and we knew if we got up we could score the runs needed to win the game. So I think the score was 9-11 when we got the last out and were able to take to the plate to finish the game hopefully as winners.

So I’m going to skip ahead a little to when Perri got up, the  score was tied, the bases were loaded and we had one out on us. OMG!! and Perri was up, this was pretty much it, she had to hit the ball to knock at least one run in.  So  her count was 2-2 one more strike she goes back to the dug out, but if she could just get on even if its a walk she atleast gets a run in. So the pitch comes in ( even as I write this my hands are shaking)  and she SMACKED the ball with all her might and sent it high in the air, PLEASE DON”T LET THEM CATCH IT! I swear that ball was in the air forever! RUN PERRI, RUN!! the ball finally came down and there were at least three players waiting there to catch it, BUT THEY DIDN”T!!!!! the ball fell between all of them our girls ran around the bases and Perri helped win the game with her one big hit in the last inning of the game to send us to the Championships!  We are so Proud of Perri, she has come a long way in the All Stars and that was her Crowning moment. She had a big catch in the first game and this hit just made our day and hers. It should have made the ESPN Highlight reel for the weekend!

WWHHEEWW….So after all this excitedment, we had to be ready almost imediatly for yet another game. THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME! It was so hot and the girls just came off a big win so they were tired and hot and needed to rest, but we only had about 1/2 hour before game time.

I have to tell you though, the Temecula Terminators as I said before were sore sore losers! one of the girls walked by our Coaches wife and said “You guys are mean!” she just said back “Good game”. What do you say to something like that. Also, while our girls are in the dug out they do cheers all the teams do it ALL OF THEM! and they are fun and fast and it keeps the girls in the game. One of the cheers is for when one of our girls steals a base , it goes like this. ” She stole on you, she stole on you, while you were curling your hair she was already there, she stole on you, she stole on you, while you were picking your nose she was up on her toes she stole on you, she stole on you!” FUN, innocent, FUN!   WELL, I guess there was a cheer that refers to someones ” bald headed grandma”, I don’t know the whole thing because the girls say them so fast sometimes it’s hard to know what they are saying. Anyway, so our girls were saying this cheer and someone from the other team,(Terminators) came over and said, (these may not be the exact words but you get the idea) UMM, we have a mom or grandma over here that has cancer and her head is bald and she is taking offense to the cheer you are saying. So our team mom stopped the girls from doing the cheer and after the game went over to the other side to appologize for doing the cheer and to make things right. We didn’t know and the cheer wasn’t being said to be mean, it’s just a fun cheer. Anyway the mom that she appologized to wasn’t taking it very well and said that she didn’t appreciate the any of the cheering that the parents were doing and that we just got  lucky. so a few other words were exchanged, some that I wont write on here but you get the idea and can see why I say that the Temecula Terminators were poor sports and sore losers. Ya know we have lost a lot of games and we never acted like that, we took our three loses on Saturdays and partied on Sundays. That’s the kind of team we have. Move on to the next game, don’t let it get you down, just have fun and we do!

So we went into our third a final game of the tournament, tired, hot and just being ok with getting a second place trophy, it’s a trophy and we didn’t care what number it had on it. Our girls were happy!

So in the end the Championship game was played against Murrieta and  due to the fact that we were tired, hot and cooked, we played  in the 100 degree temps got three runs (they got 14) and because they were up so many runs in what ever inning it was they automatcaly won, in a mercy rule ending to a wonderful weekend. The Murrieta team was the Champions and they had great fans and great coaches and were super nice cheering for us when we got our trophies and we did the same for them. Let me just add as a side note…Murrieta only had one game at 9:45 on Sunday then were able to rest until our game at 1:30. Not to say they didn’t deserve the win because they played a good game, I’m just saying we didn’t have our A game going! Our A Game was left somewhere between the second and third game maybe in the restroom or somewhere like that.

SO, now we are waiting to hear sometime today if we are one of the teams that go to the  State Championships, they take two maybe three teams, we would be the third team. It’s in San Diego and the opening cerimonies are at Quallcom Stadium, so even if we go and lose, the girls still got to go and have the experience of it all. I’ll keep you posted on that.

I just have to thank all of our little players for a great  ALL STAR  season.

SO…..Today Perri and I made the cupcakes she picked which were “Penguin Cupcakes”  Here are some pictures of our journey in to cupcakeland.We had so much fun, It was a lot of prep work that I thought would totally turn Perri off but she stayed in there and really tried hard and made some real nice penguins. She is very proud of her cupcakes. I bet her and I will be doing this again soon, I wonder what kind she will pick.

IN MEMORY OF OUR BELOVED BABES

Weep not for me though I am gone into that gentle night. Grieve if you will, but not for long upon my soul’s sweet flight. I am at peace, my souls at rest. There is no need for tears. For with your love I was so blessed. For all those many years. There is no pain, I suffer not, The fear now all is gone. Put now these things out of your thoughts, In your memory I live on. Remember not my fight for breath, Remember not the strife. Please do not dwell upon my death, but celebrate my life.

We loved our Babes and will miss her very much.

Anyway, what I wanted to write about is that this morning at 4:35 we had a magnitude 4.1 earthquake just 10 miles East of Temecula. Normaly this would be no big deal and sometimes we wouldn’t even feel it but because it was centered so close to our city BOY WE FELT IT! It woke me up with a huge jolt! I sat in bed waiting to see if there would be another even stronger one. But nothing, so I fell back asleep. But just now, at 9:41 we had another one! this one was a 3.8, I felt that one too! just a quick hard shake of the house. This 3.8 was in the same area of the first 4.1 quake, just 10 miles East of Temecula. I just went on the web site I always look at when I actually feel an earthquake just to see how strong it was and I saw that just 5 mins later we had yet another one, I didn’t feel that because it was only a 1.2, that’s nothing.

Since the first 4.1 quake, we have had 6 others and I only felt the one 3.8 just a few minutes ago. They go on all day but most we don’t even know happen. So when we actually do feel it, we stop and think is that it or will there be more?

So far no damage done, Perri didn’t even feel the one this morning at 4:35. She may have felt the 3.8 but I wont know until I get to work.

Team to beat: VENOM ( yea right)

Let me just say this has been what seems to be a very long Fall season, last Fall we only had 12 games and 6 of them were rained out. This season we have had 14 games and 3 of the Saturday’s had double headers.

the first 5 weeks I would go to the game and sit with the other mom’s, who brought the grandma’s and grandpa’s, Aunts, Uncles and cousins of the girls on the team. And Perri and I would just show up, just her and I and although it was just us we still had a good time. But We really brought it at the end of the season, Daddy’s frind Tina started coming, so her and I would sit together. The Grandma and Grandpa came to a game, so it was Me, Tina and Gmom and Gpop. We had a group! YEA! Then….Aunt janie and Uncle Todd came with Robbie and Ryan, so it was the four of them, Me and Tina! WOW, we almost took up a whole row  in the bleachers! we needed two blankets stretched out to sit on. Well then the last game of the season, this past Saturday we had out biggest group ever! Our friends from Vegas came for the weekend to visit, so it was Mark, Kellie, Tyler and Chayse ( thier two kids) Uncle John, Aunt Christine, Emily and Jackie, Me and David. We took up two rows. We were all spread out but Perri had the biggest Cheering section ever! and you could tell. Although she didn’t swing the bat ( yes the nice shiney new bat we bought her) for some reason she doesn’t want to swing it, maybe she doesn’t want to get it dirty, maybe she thinks it’s too shiney, maybe she just wants to keep it looking new, I don’t know but she wont swing! So again, we have a huge crowd there ready to see Perri give that ball a ride, but you can’t give it a ride if you don’t swing! I think she does it to drive me crazy! it’s just like her to do that.

 This is how I think Perri’s little mind might be working when she is on her way up to the plate

“ Mommy told me to swing, so I’m not going to. Daddy told me to swing but I don’t feel like it.  My bat is too pretty! it’s blue, real shiney and I don’t want to wreck it!  I might want to use it in the spring, I can’t show up in the spring with a dirty scratched up  bat, how embarrassing. SSHHEESSH! If they wanted me to actually use the bat they should have gotten me an ugly one, They can’t make me, there is a big fence between me and them, they would have to walk all the way around the fence during the game to get me to swing, and I know they wont do that. So I’m just going to walk up to the plate, hit the plate really hard to knock the dirt off of my bat and then just stand there. I wish I could see my Mom’s face when I am just standing there doing nothing, I can just imagine what Daddy is thinking. But they have to understand, if I would just get a good pitch I might try to swing but I really don’t want to waste my energy. I need my energy to do the cheering in the dug out, I need to save my energy to  do the team chant in the center of the filed at the end of the game. And  as long as I’m on this side of the fence “Your not the boss of me”.

This is of course my view and my view only and probably not any where close to what she is actually thinking but it sure sounds like something she may do maybe later in life, like when she’s 13.

Anyway!!!

The girls did Great and we had a great season even though we only won 2 games!

Halloween, I know this is quite late but better late than never. Here are a few pictures of Perri on Halloween, I believe most of you have already seen them but I am putting them on here anyway.

Flapper Perri, this is a costume she picked out and decided on about a month before halloween. We have to think of a costume because what ever she decides on needs to be talked over with Grandma Karla and we have to make sure she is able and willing to sew it all up and have it back to perri by the time the Great Pumpkin comes. This was an easy one she said. So off to the buy the fabric and sequins. We wrap it all up with a pattern that has been chosen, send it off and when it comes back a few weeks later it looks like the picture above. Grandma is awesome with the sewing machine.

I hope everyone had a great and fun Halloween and raked in the candy to be shared with Mom and Dad.

I woke up this morning at about 7:20, not because I wanted to, you see we have the day off from school which means I have the day off from work. So as I said I woke up about 7:20 only because my cat couldn’t get into my bedroom, the door must have shut after David left for work. So if she can’t get in she howls like she’s dying, then she starts to scratch at the door until she is heard and I let her in, so instead of waiting and hopeing she will go away I just got up and let her in. OK, So she’s in, then she jups up on the bed which for her is normal except instead of finding a nice spot at the end of the bed she found a nice spot right on top of me, all I could do was lye there, see she is very old and all I could think was that maybe she was cold or maybe she knew it was my Birthday and she wanted to lay with me I don’t know but from the moment she finally got comfortable ( and some of you may have had this happen to you before) I wanted to get up, I didn’t want to lay there anymore. So I got a small pillow to prop up under her so she wouldn’t fall as soon as I got out of bed and I slither out from under her with out her even knowing. ( Man I’m good!). SO NOW  I’M UP!  And as I am laying ther in bed before I get up, I hear the coffee maker alarm go off. YEA! David made me coffee! AWESOME!  So I go over to the coffee that my dear husband has made, I pour my coffeemate creamer ( Cinnamon Vanilla flavor) into my cup and begin to pour my coffee, only it’s not coffee, it’s water, not even hot water, it’s cold water. He forgot to put the water into the resevoir to drip out to make nice hot coffee. So I had to dump out my now watered down creamer and pour the water into the resevoir to make my own coffee. HUM! not starting out so great.

Next Perri gets up, sings me Happy Birthday ( so sweet!), and then asks me what I want for breakfast,” WOW “I say, your going to make me breakfast? she say’s I can work the Microwave, and the toaster, what I really wanted to make you was cinnamon rolls but I can’t work the oven alone. So of course I say, “OK, lets make cinnamon rolls, I’ll turn the oven on, put them in, get them out and transfer them onto the plate”, HUH, who’s making who breakfast?! then she icing’s them and we sit down and enjoy  our breakfast.

Perri then says, what do you wnat to do today, I’m thinking I just want to get out of the house so I don’t have to clean. So she tells me that Daddy gave me mony to take you out to the movies and to lunch. I say “Great! let’s go!” so we get ready and start to look up movies that I want to see, only I’m going with perri so none of the movies I really want to see are any we can actually see because she is 8 years old and I don’t think she would want to see “Changeling” or any other rated R movie, or would I want her to. So I look up times to go see the new Madagascar movie. We head out to the mall to see our rated G movie for my birthday. We see our movie and I must say it was pretty cute, and we head into the mall for lunch, only she’s not hungry because she at too many Milk Duds and popcorn. “Darn” I say to myself, we should have had lunch first! so instead we head in to Sears because We needed a new water filter for our refrigerator, might as well get it now since we are here. Then we wander into the clothing section…..LIttle girls clothing section. pick out a really cute pair of jeans and a nightgown. The nightgown is for Pajama day at school which Perri says is this coming Friday, well it’s going to be 100 degrees on friday so we should get something that is cool to wear. All her existing nightgowns are not school appropriate, meaning they are too short or show too much to wear to school and for mom to be comfortable with it. So we get this cute nightgown only to find out that pajama day isn’t until the 20th….All I have to say is it better be hot that day, because she’s wearing the nightgown we just bought!

We finsh at Sears and head over to Bath and Body works, my sister wanted some new stuff from there for Christmas so I figure get it now while the selection is still good. The entire time we were in the store Perri never shut up….I  mean this girl talked the entire time, I could hardly think straight. I finally had to tell her to ZIP IT! I need to think!  I calmly got what I needed and left, Happy that I found what I wanted in the flavor I wanted and now I don’t think I will need to go back. Thank goodness and if I do go back I will for sure be alone!

So then Perri tells me she is now hungry but not for lunch, she’s hungry for Wetzels Pretzels……That was lunch. Need I say more!?

So were off for home, my hands were getting tired of carrying the bags and I didn’t want to walk around anymore answering the question ” What store are we going to now momma?”

 Honestly Perri was great, all day, she held doors for me and paid for the movie all by herself and the pretzels. She was GREAT! I actually had a nice day, it may not have been all about me but it was pretty close and me and Perri had a fun girls day out.

Happy Birthday to me!

They really needed it, we only have one game left. So think about us and send your good JuJu our way on Saturday because we play…… The VENOM!

They were really good games, I just haven’t had time to write about them. I will try to write this afternoon after her game today. Wish us luck, we play the “Venom” AGAIN!
